NEW Valentine's heart-headed cloth and clay doll!

Better late than never, I finished my heart-headed cloth and clay doll just in time for Valentine's Day. Cleverly (or not so), but aptly named "Valentina", she is now listed on ebay.

You can find her here:

Sew Dear To Me's eBay Listings

If you like her, bid quick ~ she's on a 3 day listing so that there's time to get her to you for Valentine's Day!

She started out without my having a clue how she would turn out, and ended up being such a pretty girl! I was pleased with the results of this, my third cloth and clay doll.

So that's what I've been up to.

New! Valentine's Punch Needle from my Atlanta Sister

Here's more punch needle embroidery pieces listed on eBay now, from my Atlanta sister. Such pretty Valentine's Day themed items ~ a pinkeep and a keepsake box, to add a little romance and brighten things up since the Christmas stuff got packed back away. All that red ~ why it's almost like Christmas all over again! I don't have a lick of red in my house, although it is one of my favorite colors. However, without any further ado, take a peek...

Bunches of Hang Tags on eBay

Just finished listing a bunch of vintage hang tags on eBay for Valentine's , St. Patrick's, Easter, and some vintage laundry, sewing, and Victorian children (soooo cute!)

Here's the sneak preview...

For some reason this set wouldn't upload to my post properly, but here's one of them ~ they're similar to the ones above, except the hang ties are a different green homespun.

Featuring....My Sister!

My Virginia sister is still busily punching away at more punch needle embroidery pieces ~ pinkeeps, lovely designs mounted on wood boxes and a vintage matchstick box, a gameboard box, and some pretty and unique Easter eggs. She also scrapped some really neat Valentine/Greeting cards this week with strips of scrapbooking papers that she sewed to the front of the card with zig-zag and straight stitching. You can't see the detail very well, but they turned out very nice! So how's this for punch needle eye candy!

You can view these all in further detail on eBay; just click on the link below:

Magpie1217

She does wonderfully detailed work. She punches very "tightly," making sure there is no white weaver's cloth showing through her designs. Her work is really high quality!

AND then she has this going up on eBay Monday night ~ I just love how these prim Valentine heart bowl ornies turned out!

Stay tuned ~ my Atlanta sister will have some special Valentine punch needle pieces coming up a little later in the week that I will share with you.

Who Knows?

Since "they" officially declared that we are now in a recession, and have been since December of 2007, should I feel optimistic that it's only going to last another 6 months, like the last recession in 1990? Who the heck knows.

I'm sure you have heard lots of stories about people who are losing their jobs, their homes, or have had to take a cut in pay. We have not been unaffected, and while pay goes down, health care costs especially, as well as other necessary costs of living, are going up.

A lot of people think the new President is going to solve everything. He made a lot of campaign promises that will be tough, if not impossible to keep, concerning the economy.

I wonder if the last recession in 1990 didn't last long enough to "adjust" the economy. It seems like for years, the cost of everything, including homes, is way over priced. I couldn't believe when we bought our new home almost 2 years ago, what little we got for our money. Just take a look at your deed records (available online usually) and see what the house sold for. Ours changed hands only a couple times over the past 30 years, but the sale price(s) increased dramatically over that time period. It's ridiculous. EVERYTHING seems out of whack ~ the ratio of what people earn versus the basic costs of what they must spend to "live."

The economy crisis is definitely effecting my immediate family members greatly with one sister having lost a job due to "re-organization," and the guys who are in the construction business (including my husband), are seeing work dry up, committed jobs canceled, and greater competition in bidding and securing new work.

How is the economy crisis effecting you, and what do you think is going to happen? Will it get worse before it gets better?

Vintage Victorian Calling Cards & Scraps Images

About a year and a half ago, I bought a lot of Victorian calling cards and scraps on eBay. I'm just now starting to get them scanned in to my computer. I created some collage sheets of these and thought maybe some of you would like them for your scrapbooking, hang tags, or altered art. I can supply each sheet, digitally via email to you for $2.99 each. Just email me at furysport66@aol.com with your PayPal email address. I'll invoice you, and upon receipt of payment, the .jpg file(s) will be emailed to you. I scanned these in at 300 dpi, so the quality of the images are pretty good, I think! Take a peek and see. Clicking on the images below will take you to a larger view.

I've called my family physician today. I'm still battling "the crud" with a sore throat, pain in my ears, headache, and all over body aches and pains. She's prescribed an antibiotic, cough syrup, steroids, and in the second go-around, some stuff for allergies, all of which haven't helped exorcise this crud from my body. Hopefully she's got some other ideas of what will work. I read on some chat board on the world wide web last night that a lot of people have been battling these same strange symptoms for months now. You'd think the doctors would have figured it out by now. So I'm trying to keep busy piddling around without taxing myself too much. LOL! Hope everyone else is enjoying good health in the New Year!

Hugs,

Christmas Scrapbooking

Now that Christmas is over, it's time to start thinking about scrappin' those precious memories. Although I have all the scrapbooking supplies one person could never possibly use in an entire lifetime, I haven't used them in ages. Instead, I've been playing just a bit with some of the digital scrapbooking products available. A Google search of "digital scrapbooking" will keep you entertained for a month! LOL! I know a lot of people can dress up their dogs in Christmas outfits with no problem ~ I think it's just a matter of what they got used to when they were a puppy! Although my babies are only wearing a Christmas bow, cooperation was non-existent until I added a "treatie" to the photo shoot session! So here's a digital scrapbook page I had some fun creating today of our "kids." (Click on the image to see the larger view)...

The graphic "quick page" background I used was a free gift for registering online with www.digitalscrapbookpages.com, courtesy of their designer Glenda Ketchum.
